The Puerto Rico Pickleball Open - Senior Edition will be held on December 6, 7 & 8, 2024 at the facilities of La Academia - Sport for All on the municipal courts of Caguas.
All players who register before November 15 will receive the tournament shirt in the requested size. After that date it will be "first come, first served basis" or whatever size is available. Players will also receive a goodie bag with products from our sponsors.
$65 for the first event, $15 per additional event.
All players must be members of the PRPA in order to participate. The cost is $25 per year.

All games will be entered into DUPR. For this reason, ALL players MUST have a free account with DUPR. Creating a DUPR account is free. Create your account today: HERE
The tournament will have the following categories 2.5, 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5, and 5.0 +
You will be able to play in your category according to DUPR or higher. If you do not agree with your rating according to DUPR, please contact the Tournament Management and we will accommodate you in the category that corresponds to you.
Cancellations notified on or before October 15, 2024, will be refunded, with a deduction of $25 per player. Cancellations notified on or before November 1, 2024, will be refunded, with a deduction of $50 per player.
After November 1, no refunds will be given.
This event is outdoors. If the weather prevents us from running the tournament, no refunds will be given. It will be rescheduled for another date.
The tournament will be in a round robin format playing 11 winning by 2. Semifinals and Finals will be single elimination playing 15 winning by 2.
The tournament director reserves the right to modify the format.

It depends on your level of play, but if you are just starting out in the sport we recommend that you sign up for category 2.5.
We will be using the Selkirk PRO S1. It is a very heat-resistant ball and has been well received by the pickleball community.
Yes. Select finals of the tournament will be broadcast via live stream on the tournament page (Puertoricopickleballopen.com), on our YouTube channel, and on other platforms that we will announce soon.
Some courts will be selected so that video cameras can capture whether a ball has bounced inside or outside the playing area. During the semi-finals and finals on those courts, players may request that the referee consult with the recording to determine if the opposing team called the ball correctly.
The tournament is structured taking into consideration the age of the players (the "Age Group") and their level according to DUPR.
The Age Groups are:
40 to 49
50 to 59
60 to 69
70 to 79
80+
Within each Age Group there are the following categories:
2.5
3.0
3.5
4.0
4.5 +
You will be able to play in your age group or a younger group. You may not play in an age group older than yours. For example, if you are 55 years old, you can play in the Age Group from 40 to 49, or from 50 to 59.
Their age as of December 31, 2024 will be taken into consideration. For example, if you are 49 years old and turn 50 on December 3, 2024, for the purposes of the tournament you are 50 years old.
