Date and place of the eventThe Puerto Rico Pickleball Open - Senior Edition will be held on December 6-8 , 2024 at the facilities of La Academia - Sport for All on the municipal courts of Caguas.

ShirtsAll players who register before November 15 will receive the tournament shirt in the requested size. After that date it will be "first come, first served basis" or whatever size is available. Players will also receive a goodie bag with products from our sponsors.

What is the cost of the tournament?$65 for the first event, $15 per additional event.

What are the requirements to participate?All players must be members of the PRPA in order to participate. The cost is $25 per year. MEMBERSHIP WITH THE PRPA: HERE.

What categories are available?The tournament will have the following categories 2.5, 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5 + Depending on the tournament we will most likely have categories for players that are 50 years or older. Their age as of December 31, 2024 will be taken into consideration. For example, if you are 49 years old and turn 50 on December 3, 2024, for the purposes of the tournament you are 50 years old. You will be able to play in your category according to DUPR or higher. If you do not agree with your rating according to DUPR, please contact the Tournament Management and we will accommodate you in the category that corresponds to you.

What is the return policy?Cancellations notified on or before October 15, 2024, will be refunded, with a deduction of $25 per player. Cancellations notified on or before November 1, 2024, will be refunded, with a deduction of $50 per player. After November 1, no refunds will be given. This event is outdoors. If the weather prevents us from running the tournament, no refunds will be given. It will be rescheduled for another date.

What is the format of the tournament?The tournament will be in a round robin format playing 11 winning by 2. Semifinals and Finals will be single elimination playing 15 winning by 2. The Tournament Directors reserve the right to modify the format during the tournament.

What is the calendar of events?This schedule is subject to change. Any changes will be notified to players in a timely manner. Fri, Dec 6 – Female and Male Singles Fri, Dec 6 – Pickleball Clinics, Open Play, and Just for Fun category. Sat, Dec 7 – Women's Doubles at 8am and Men's Doubles at 2pm Sun, Dec 8 – Mixed Doubles at 8am Sun, Dec 8 – Pickleball Clinics, Open Play, and Just for Fun category.

It's my first tournament: in which category do I register?It depends on your level of play, but if you are just starting out in the sport we recommend that you sign up for category 2.5.

What ball are they going to use?We will be using the Selkirk PRO S1. It is a very heat-resistant ball and has been well received by the pickleball community.

Is it true that you are going to broadcast the finals?Yes. Select finals of the tournament will be broadcast via live stream on the tournament page (Puertoricopickleballopen.com), on our YouTube channel, and on other platforms that we will announce soon.

Will there be instant replay in the tournament?Some courts will be selected so that video cameras can capture whether a ball has bounced inside or outside the playing area. During the semi-finals and finals on those courts, players may request that the referee consult with the recording to determine if the opposing team called the ball correctly.
